Accessibility
I want ushman.dev to be usable by as many people as possible, regardless of technology, ability, or how they interact with the web.
This site is designed and developed with WCAG 2.2 Level AA as its accessibility baseline. Accessibility is considered throughout design, development, content creation, and ongoing maintenance rather than treated as a final compliance check.
Accessibility works best when it is built into the application itself.
This site uses semantic HTML, consistent heading structures, keyboard-accessible navigation and controls, visible focus indicators, descriptive links, and responsive layouts that support different screen sizes and levels of zoom. Informative images are provided with appropriate alternative text, while decorative images are excluded from assistive technologies.
Both light and dark color modes are designed with accessibility in mind, including sufficient contrast and avoiding reliance on color alone to communicate meaning.
The site also includes features such as a skip link to bypass repeated navigation and properly labeled and validated forms.
Much of the site's content is built using reusable, structured components rather than unrestricted page layouts. This helps maintain consistent markup, heading structures, responsive behavior, and accessibility features as content changes.
The goal is to make accessible output the default rather than something that has to be recreated or remembered each time content is added.
Accessibility is tested as the site evolves using a combination of automated checks and manual review.
Automated accessibility tools are useful for identifying many common problems, but they cannot determine whether a website is fully accessible. Manual testing, including keyboard navigation and review of interactive components, is therefore also part of the development process.
Accessibility is an ongoing maintenance responsibility. Changes to templates, reusable components, content, browsers, and third-party services can introduce new issues even when a site has previously been tested.
WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the accessibility standard used in the design and development of this site.
Some aspects of the site may meet additional Level AAA success criteria where doing so is practical, but Level AA is the baseline used for design, development, and testing.
If you encounter an accessibility barrier while using this site, please let me know. If possible, include the page you were using and a description of the problem you encountered.
